Join us on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, January 20, 2020.

Over 300 volunteers will work together to package 130,000+ meals to be distributed in Durham, Orange, Wake, and Johnston Counties through the Interfaith Food Shuttle. This project is a collaboration between 15 District 7710 Rotary Clubs, Duke University, Interfaith Food Shuttle, and Duke School.

As a key participating club in this District Grant, we are looking for broad participation from our club. Last year, this event sold out. Please sign-up early. Click HERE to register.

We are also conducting a food drive, beginning immediately, to help re-stock the food pantries at Durham Tech and North Carolina Central University after the holidays.  We are asking members to consider bringing non-perishable items at each club meeting for the next 6 weeks leading up to the event.  Bring donations to our club meetings, or if you are volunteering bring donated items to the January 20 event.

The most-needed items are as follows:

  • Protein: cans or pouches of tuna, salmon, or chicken;
  • Peanut butter (jelly or jam too!);
  • Shelf-stable microwaveable or canned meals (e.g. chili, beef stew, ravioli, etc.);
  • Rice (boxes or microwaveable pouches);
  • Pasta, noodles, and jarred or canned pasta sauces;
  • Boxed macaroni and cheese mixes; ramen noodles;
  • Dried or canned beans;
  • Canned vegetables;
  • Canned or dried fruit; and
  • Cereal, granola bars.
